April 2016 – update
The past two plus years I have been working on my first album project and volume 1 is finally ready to be released on April 12. While it took 2 years to get to this point it is has been decades of my life in the making. Life happened and songs were birthed from these places. The album title “Make Something Beautiful” is the theme of my life for out of ashes He creates. In the day to day, trial by trial, mistake after mistake God continues to use the things of life to break us wide open to sprout new life that was intended to breakthrough our inmost being.
Watchman Nee writes ” Each one of us has as much of the same “Jacob-nature” in us. Our only hope is that the Lord may blaze a way out of us, breaking our outward man – breaking it to such a degree that the inward man may come out and be seen. This is precious! This is the way to serve the Lord”
We wrestle, we hide, we come back to Him and He breaks through our stubborn flesh and new life is birthed. The process is at times excruciating but the fruit is worth the pruning.
I have been asked what the ‘style’ of my music looks like – to be honest life doesn’t have a style = it just is. This project is a reflection of life and me finding and discovering God in and through it over and over. Life is up, it’s down, it’s beautiful, it’s chaotic.
I have found that while God is accessible to my being He is also far from my limited understanding. I have asked a lot of questions, sometimes the answers come and sometimes just knowing that He is God is all I need to know.
Sometimes prayers are realized and sometimes they look different than what we asked for. Looking for Him amidst chaos and the silent moments, searching for Him endlessly all the while knowing I will never fully have a grasp yet maintaining a hunger for more…
I am thankful to discover Him through melodies and words. These songs healed pieces of me and brought me closer to Him in the making of the project and they still do to this day and I pray they do the same for you.
